New wide-angle fundus imaging system

Optos California is a wide-angle, hight-resolution imaging system.

Athens Eye Hospital, at the forefront of global developments announces the deployment of the latest generation, non-mydriatic (2mm pupil) system for retinal imaging: Optos California. The system is capable of super-wide-angle imaging, up to 200 degrees in field angle, maximising the medical information in each image for diagnosis while minimising the patient’s discomfort as in a single image up to the 82% of the retinal area can be examined.

The high-resolution digital image (optomap) provides higher definition and more clinical information to the physician facilitating timely diagnosis, management and treatment of retinal decease such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.

Retinal imaging can potentially reveal non-ophthalmic or systemic dicease such as in the case of hypertensive retinopathy. In addition, some neoplasias are immediately detected.
