EXPERIMENTAL SURGERY

Other than theoretical subjects and training in realistic simulators, the Athens Eye Hospital decisively contributes towards the practical training of new and existing ophthalmologists, providing them the ability to practice all of the necessary surgical techniques on real eyes taken from animals.

In a specially designed room, equipped with all machines and instruments found in real operating room, the trainee surgeons are able to familiarize themselves with the latest surgical techniques and gain practical experience on how "live" tissues react during surgery without the anxiety to harming a real patient.

Under the supervision and guidance of experienced and distinguished educators, the experimental surgeries held at the Athens Eye Hospital allow all ophthalmic surgeons to gain substantial experience in real surgical conditions, develop new skills and correct their weaknesses by repetition and without the pressure of time.
