The Athens Εye Hospital announces the cease of its cooperation with Slovak Medical University regarding the training of resident Ophthalmologists (rotation) of the above University.

This decision was taken after the reaction of part of the Students’ Movement and Medical Trade Unions.

It is stressed that Slovak Medical University, the competent state body for medical specializations in the Slovak Republic, decided that all the conditions required by law are met and its residents in Ophthalmology could be sent for part of their specialization (rotation) to the hospital, after a scientific team, led by the University’s dean, visited the Athens Eye Hospital and inspected its facilities, equipment and personnel (scientific and other).

It is therefore quite clear that the Athens Eye Hospital does not grant specialization titles in the Field of Ophthalmology. On the other hand, it was chosen by a State University of an EU member state as a place of Excellence and as one of the best Private Special Hospitals in Europe, to conduct part of the specialization in the Field of Ophthalmology.

Therefore, unworthy financial criteria and cheap intentions cannot be attributed to the Hospital.
