The new department is exclusively dedicated to patients with ocular inflammatory disorders, covering a wide variety of conditions such as episcleritis and scleritis to more aggressive intraocular inflammations affecting the posterior part of the eye (posterior uveitis, Behcet disease etc).

The department is supervised by Dr Zafeirakis Panagiotis, an ophthalmologist with significant experience in the management  of complex uveitis cases. The use of novel therapeutic protocols (mainly the use of anti-TNF medications) but also the conventional immunosupressive medications is closely monitored by the specialised personnel of our new unit.

Additionally, the surgical team of our Hospital is staffed with Dr Rallatos Haralampos (trained in Harvard Medical School in Adult Intraocular Inflammatory disorders) and Dr Rallatos Gerasimos (specialised in pediatric Uveitic Cases). They can manage patients when despite the use of Systemic Immunosuppressants there is a need for intraocular surgery.
