6. Is cataract surgery painful? How long does recovery last?

Cataract surgery is performed by applying  local anaesthesia( using drops, not an injection) and lasts  a few minutes.

During surgery, the patient will experience no pain, there is just a sensation of light pressure.

The insertion of the lens can cause a mild feeling or a sensation of an alien body, lasting  just a few weeks.

Eye sight is usually fully restored during the first three days after surgery.
